My Story
I am a Chartered Psychologist with the British Psychological Society and a registered Forensic Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council. I have worked in the field of psychology for over 20 years.
Alongside my professional work, I am also a parent-carer. Through my own parenting journey I have lived experience of trauma, complex behavioural needs, medical challenges and neurodivergence within the family. This has deepened my understanding of how important it is to find the right support at the right time, from someone who genuinely understands.
Earlier in my career, I spent ten years working as an assistant and later as a trainee psychologist in an adolescent secure unit. Within a multidisciplinary team, I supported young people with complex emotional and behavioural needs, which shaped my commitment to working with all clients through a trauma‑ and attachment‑informed lens.
I then spent five years with HM Prison and Probation Services in a Category B prison, including three years as a Senior Psychologist. During this part of my career, I developed extensive experience in forensic risk assessment, including areas such as violence, sexual offending, intimate partner violence, extremism, and fire‑setting. I also spent some time working as the Clinical Lead for the Segregation and Reintegration Unit, supporting high risk men with complex psychological and behavioural needs, recover and reintegrate back to main location.
I have worked in private practice for the last 5 years providing psychological therapy, psychological assessments and expert witness reports. Alongside this work, I have contributed to training and professional development through academic supervision and occasional teaching on various University Psychology programmes.

My Approach
My approach to therapy is integrative and formulation-driven. Using an integrative approach allows me to draw on a range of evidence-based psychological methods so that the work can be tailored to the individual.
Taking a formulation-driven approach means I focus on helping people understand how their difficulties developed, what may be maintaining them, and how new coping strategies can be developed in ways that feel meaningful and achievable.
I specialise in trauma-informed work and have experience supporting people who struggle with safety behaviours, such as self-injury, substance misuse, aggression or problematic relational styles. I also support people with anxiety, depression, grief and loss, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Complex PTSD.
My therapeutic style is warm, collaborative and down-to-earth. I aim to create a safe, non-judgemental and neuro-affirming space where people feel able to be their authentic selves and explore their experiences at a pace that feels manageable to them.
I have trained in a number of psychological approaches, including receiving specialist training in:
-
Schema Mode Therapy
-
Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy
-
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
-
Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT)
I am committed to engaging in regular supervision and ongoing training to ensure I am continuing to develop professionally, working within ethical and evidence based practice frameworks.
